ANNA BJORNSDOTTIR GETS $2 MILLION REWARS IN 'WHITEY BUGLER CASE'

A former Miss Iceland who met Boston crime boss James "Whitey" Bulger and his girlfriend in California was paid a $2 million reward for the tip that led to Bulger's arrest in June, according to a report. Fox News reports that two former prosecutors say the public naming of a woman credited for tipping off investigators on the whereabouts of former Boston crime boss James Whitey Bulger could put her in grave danger.

Anna Bjornsdottir, a 57-year-old yoga instructor who starred in 1974's Miss Universe, tipped off police after recognising Bulger, one of America's most wanted people who had been on the run for 16 years, on a television news report.

More American Graffiti and The Sword and the Sorcerer are among Anna Björnsdóttir’s other credits. But her biggest came on June 21, 2011 when she called the FBI from Iceland. The Boston Globe said the FBI paid the reward money to Anna Bjornsdottir, a one-time model and Miss Iceland 1974.

She became friends with Bulger's girlfriend Catherine Greig after the two women both took a shared interest in a local stray cat while the fugitive couple hid out in Santa Monica.
