CHARLIE DANIELS BAND MEMBER KILLED IN CRASH

Joel "Taz" DeGregorio, a longtime keyboardist in the Charlie Daniels Band and co-writer of the group's biggest hit, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," was killed Wednesday night in a one-car crash west of Nashville. TMZ reports that Joel “Taz” DiGregorio was on his way to meet the band's tour bus in Tennessee when he crashed on Interstate 40 west of Nashville.

DiGregorio was traveling to meet the band's tour bus when his car crashed near Nashville on Interstate 40, according to authorities. The band was about to leave for Cumming, Georgia, for a concert appearance at the Cumming Country Fair and Festival on Thursday night.

The Charlie Daniels Band has canceled performances in Georgia on Thursday and Connecticut over the weekend to allow the bandmates time to grieve. Following the tragedy, the Charlie Daniels Band has canceled concerts in Cumming, Ga. and Waterbury, Conn.

"I am in shock now, Taz was one of my best friends," Charlie shares on his website. "The CDB family has lost a great friend and musician. We traveled many miles together and shared so many nights on the road. We're going to miss you buddy. You were one of a kind and will never be forgotten. We send our deepest condolences to the family."
