Former Pakistan international off-spinner 45-years old Akram Raza was among seven people detained by police in Lahoreon accusation of gambling on the Indian Premiere league matches. He is a former Pakistani cricketer who played in 9 Tests and 49 ODIs from 1989 to 1995.
According to the local media source (Dunya News), police received a tip of gambling at the Ashrafi towers in the Gulberg which is the famous area of Lahore. Police said theformer test cricket Akram Riaz along with five people were running a den that was taking bets on the Indian Premier League Twenty20 tournament in India.
Police recovered telephones, computers, televisions and a large amount of money during the raid, all seven-men were charged later on Sunday.
Gulberg Station Head Officer Abid Rashed told to the Dunya News that more than Rs 43,000, numerous mobile phones, telephone lines, Internet connection and a record register were recovered.
