Martha Graham was born 117 years ago (May 11, 1894) today and Google called on “motionographer” Ryan Woodward to honor the event with an animated Doodle. In a career that spanned over half a century Graham created more than 180 works and she herself performed in most. She died on April 1, 1991, leaving behind an unfinished work called "Eyes of the Goddess".

Her influence on dance in America had a huge impact and even today she is revered as one of the greatest dancers and she was an American dancer choreographer regarded as one of the foremost pioneers of modern dance, whose influence on dance can be compared to the influence.
Graham was the pioneer of modern dance in the United States and her Martha Graham Dance Company has grown in to the Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance. However, she had sealed her place long before then in the pantheon of great artistic revolutionaries of the 20th century.
