Banking sources have revealed that Qatar Petroleum and Exxon Mobil are looking forward to receive proposals by the end of August from international, regional and local banks on a $4.7bn, syndicated loan backing the Barzan gas project, Reuters has reported. The bankers have added that the loan would be the largest internationally syndicated loan from Qatar in three years. The 16-year amortising loan totalling $4.7bn is split between a $2bn uncovered loan and $2.7bn of financing from export credit agencies (ECA), which includes a mixture of covered bank and direct lending.
